{a whirlwind of rowans health.. and the 4th}

whaaa? im updating? weird. i know. the first couple weeks were because i was too much of a crazy person to put into words, and the rest of the time was actually just a complete lack of motivation on my part.

so... our lives have been kinda crazy. you may or may not have heard in the past three months of how rowan has been sick. well- i feel like we finally have things under control. and as im sure you'd love to hear the long version, i would really love to not remember it nor write all of it. here's the short version.

mid-may started six weeks of throw-up, diarrhea. diarrhea. throw-up. diarrhea. diarrhea. diarrhea. diarrhea. throw-up. rowan never really acted sick, and it wasn't happening everyday so i never took her in. i thought it must be some food allergy, so i tried to figure it out myself. throw-up and diarrhea got VERY BAD. called pediatrician. two hour apt on thursday (june 28th) with no conclusion except we needed to do lots of tests. poop bags. hospital visits for blood work. friday- temperature flare while we were trying to pack our house and move from bountiful. she got really sick. extremely stressed about her condition and trying to finish packing our house. saturday-  moved to sandy. immediately went to instacare to see another pediatrician. more tests. catheter for rowan (ouch!). more medicine. more poop bags. very stressful living situation. then jords sick?. ugh. sunday- poop bags dont work for the lab. gotta do more poop bags. jord started new job while still being very sick. monday- finally a call from the nurse saying rowan tested positive for c-diff. dont know what it is? ya, me neither. i had to have her spell it for me, and then i spent the following 5 hours doing research on it. they told me they would prescribe anti-biodicts. jord was really sick. rowans still throwing up and diarrhea. tuesday- call from the pediatricians office saying they are having a hard time trying to get anyone to fill her "special prescription" and that they cant help me anymore because its really inconvenient for them. s.e.r.i.o.u.s.l.y. i was unkind to that nurse and stressed beyond belief. i finally make the move myself to call around and try and find someone to fill the prescription. i was hovered over the toilet all morning feeling HORRID. i finally got someone to fill it. my sweet mother-in-law went and picked it up. i drove down to provo in obscene amounts of traffic to have a follow-up with our regular pediatrician who came back into town and wanted to check on rowan. broken AC in my car. over an hour late to our apt. she was so sick. i felt so sick. she tested positive for strep. wondering if we will ever catch a break. drove back to sandy. found out her prescription was $102. what the? jord came home from work, sick as a dog. my mother in law offered to go back to get rowans new prescription for strep. i finally felt a little better. jords still sick. i gave rowan her anti-biotics for her c-diff and put her to bed. my mother in law calls saying that the pharmacy thinks that there was a mistake in the anti-biodicts they gave us for her c-diff. i freak out and call my pediatrician at his house and he kind of is confused because she is not supposed to be on that medicine. ------are you kidding me? they just prescribed my baby the wrong medicine?----- freaking out at this point. and all the on-call pediatricans office had to say was "sorry that happened, but you can just keep that other medicine for the next time she gets sick and we'll call in the right one for you." i dont know if there has ever been a mother more red in the face then i was when they said that to me. after i calmed myself down, everyone went to bed. wednesday, july 4th-. house arrest because rowan was contagious and jord still was sick. he slept all day. we missed all the parades and bbq's and fireworks. jord finally went to the doctors and had a temp of *103. so we went to pick up a prescription for him, and the RIGHT prescription for rowan. costs over $80. jords wondering why our insurance isn't covering any of these, only to find out that the target representative told us wrong about our insurance and they cut us off a week earlier than we were told. (since jord switched jobs). so all the doctors visits, lab tests, after-hours visits that both jord AND rowan had just done in the last 8 days were not covered at all by our insurance. still really excited to get the bills for all of that.

that was our week from hell.

so since then, rowan has finished her anti-biodicts and she's doing better. she still isn't 100% so we have a few more doctors apts with a food-allergist and a childrens gastro doctor to just rule other things out. but we are on the uphill. so there you have it. that just about did it in for me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so like i said, we were on house arrest for the fourth of july. but i was not about to let us be party-poopers completely. we got ourselves dressed and took about 5 pictures just so that we could say we
were patriotic for a minute. but you can obviously see that no one was really into it.
poor rowan and jord were still so sick physically, and i was sick mentally. ;)

{cherry- pickin... evidence left on rowans face.}

we'll just keep hopin the next years fourth is better than the last.
