i am overwhelmed with the love and support that has been given...
thank you so much for your congrats and well wishes for us.
we honestly have the best friends and family around.
i've been getting a few of the same questions from everybody.... so here are some answers:
was this a surprise?
yes and no. no, because we've almost been married 2.5 years, and jord has wanted a baby since the day we got married, and i'm graduating in december, and it just seemed like the right time. yes, because well... we tried ONCE. for those who aren't aware, i have had so many medical issues the last four years. i have had severe ovarian cysts, seen cancer doctors, i've been told i could have a stroke soon, and i've been told there is a good chance i could have endometriosis. and the list goes on and on. i have honestly wondered so many times the last few years if having kids was even on option for me. (very scary moments....). So i honestly didn't know if we even could have kids, let alone how long it would take. So, this came very fast and a bit of a shock for us. But i KNOW that we are incredibly blessed, and what a miracle this little peanut already is to us.
have you been sick?
uh. yes. extremely. about week six, to the day, is when i started feeling really nauseous, and the barfing started. not fun at all. neither of my sisters got sick with their five babies.... so i was banking on the fact that we nelson girls dont get sick. well, i wasn't so lucky. i was lucky though that i could just lay around for three weeks (i never left the porcelain throne, or the couch) before school started. but it has been really rough since. I have been really lucky to make it to the bathroom during classes, or in between classes, or during work... cause that could have been really bad. but i haven't thrown up in about a week, so im glad that has subsided. and i'm hoping the nauseous feelings subside soon as well. and whoever said it was "morning" sickness was a fool. it happens ALL DAY LONG.
do you think its a boy or a girl?
i honestly think its a girl. and so does jord. and so does my family. we have done the Chinese calendar test, the drain-o test, and all of them say its a girl. not that i am convinced those tests actually work... but i guess we'll see! i have 5 nephews on my side, and jord has 2 nieces on his... so we are providing a "first" for one family, no matter what we have! either way, i will be so happy to have a healthy baby. especially given my circumstances, all i want is a healthy baby.
i wanted to write down how i was feeling the day we found out...
so here is a little bit of it. (you honestly dont have to read it.. its for my sake)
(taken at 7:30 am.. dont mind!)
today we found out we're having a baby.
i cant really explain the emotions i'm feeling right now. i'm so excited, i'm absolutely shocked, and i'm really really nervous! having a baby is something you always dream about, and i cant believe its actually happening. WE'RE HAVING A BABY!!!!i just keep saying it over and over again.. wondering if i will ever believe it. this is the story:
jord and i decided that we wanted to start trying, because we honestly didn't know how long it would take (because of my issues). the last few weeks were really strange.."feeling"-wise. i was extra emotional when jord left for europe. i went running once, and got so sick that i threw up in my car, and i noticed that when i was at mom & dad's (while jord was gone) that i was super super tired. i was falling asleep during the day for 2-3 hours.. and that was really weird for me. and to be honest, when jord got back, i noticed a couple times i got snappy with him. and not that i am claiming to be the perfect wife.. but im not usually like that. he just kept saying "you're pregnant, i know it." so it was in my head. and then everything that was happening kept rolling through my head, and i said "you know what.. this is so strange, i better be pregnant."
so jord wouldn't let me take a test until a specific day, cause we only had two tests left. But for some odd reason, it was the first thing that popped into my head this morning. But i knew if i told jord i was going to take it.. he would tell me not to. So i grabbed one of the tests and went into the bathroom.
this obviously wasnt my first time taking a test, so i did the business and put the stick on the counter. i knew the next three minutes were going to be the longest of my life, so i was finishing up and NOT EVEN 30 seconds later... i noticed out of the corner of my eye that the screen had changed.i looked over and saw this:
{you dont really need to read that twice...}
my mouth dropped.
i started to tear up, and i ran over to our bedroom where jord was rustling around, half awake.
i just stood at the foot of the bed and held out the stick and said "jord!" i wanted to cry, but i was shocked and so happy.
jord was like, "what? what?" as he realized i was holding a stick, he got within inches of it and got a HUGE grin on his face and said, "NO.WAY!" i climbed in bed and he took me in his arms and just kept saying "no way!". we laid in bed just staring at each other.. and the stick... with the biggest smiles on our faces, for about a half hour. we were so happy. we then got on our knees and jord offered the most spiritual and uplifting prayer of gratitude, and then i just bawled!
so thats how it all went down.
we were going to wait at least a couple more weeks to tell, but last wednesday was our first ultrasound appointment, and after we saw our little peanut wiggling around in there (it was SO CUTE! we couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces) and we heard the heartbeat, our doctor said "you're baby is perfect!" and we were just too excited.... so thats when we told.
again, thank you everyone for how sweet you have been.
obviously my emotions are amplified 100x, but i get so emotional thinking about how perfect everything has been for us. and how we are so blessed, by so many things.
yay for our little peanut!
