i have been wanting to write posts like this for a really long time. but i havent because i dont want to sound like i know everything. cause i dont. but i decided to just go with it... cause i dont have anything else to post. and i think every single person SHOULD know these kinds of things, if you dont already. i find too many people that know NOTHING about their bodies or their health and i think its good stuff to know, ya know? its knowing small things like this that can someday, make a huge difference.
i just ended my summer semester last week... such a great feeling. only one more to go.
but i was sad to know that i wouldn't be in class with this specific teacher ever again.
cause he was frickin awesome. so awesome, that i have driven 35 minutes each way (3x a week) for the last two semesters to take classes with him.
i dont think i have ever learned so much from a teacher in my entire life.
he made me laugh, and he made really hard subjects... like anatomy & physiology.... absolutely fascinating.
i have never enjoyed going to class, as much as i have these two past semesters that i've had him.
did you ever have a teacher like that?
i felt like him and i shared the same opinions and values on almost every subject that he taught. {nutrition, vaccinations, taking medications vs. natural way of fixing things, etc}
but i think the most important thing i ever learned from this teacher, was to think FOR MYSELF.
and just because somebody has "a title" that makes you think they know what they are talking about, doesn't necessarily mean that they do.

I've learned so many incredible things about the body, and my body.
And i'm so grateful i have been studying the subject that i have.
Because i think i've learned things that will benefit ME and my family for the rest of my life.
here is something i think everybody should know:
I think every single one of us have been devastated by the affects of cancer. Whether it be by a family member, or a friend. We all have dealt with it.
So what would you do if i told you that there was a pill on the market right now that decreased your chances of having cancer by 70%. would you not run out and pick it up right now?
i sure as heck would.
did you know that 70% of cancer is nutrition-related?
i dont think we realize what the long-term affects will be, with the kind of things we are eating right now.
let me tell you people, its incredibly crucial. and i am not, BY ANY MEANS, claiming to be perfect. i am far from it. but the smallest little changes can have a massive affect on your future health.
things to be aware of on labels:
{most of them are synthetic... which means "man-made"... aka: fake}*calcium carbonate
if you are taking a calcium supplement of any kind, and this ingredient is on the label, you should know that 13% of it is being absorbed into your body. so you are NOT getting the calcium that you think you are. calcium citrate & calcium malate= good. calcium carbonate= bad.
*ascorbic acid
(this one is in debate between me and my dad right now ;) i have read a few articles regarding the matter. and what my opinion is, is that ascorbic acid is a fraction of vitamin C. So if you are taking a vitamin C, and think that you are getting your vitamin C, but the sole ingredient is ascorbic acid, your body is getting a fraction of what you think it is.
*aspartame
i would be surprised if you haven't heard of this one yet. fake sugar. things like splenda.
when you look at a DIET drink and see that its 0 calories, you think its awesome, right? (i totally have!)
well, if you continue to look on that label and see aspartame, you are harming your body way past the 100 calories that you would get from other drinks. read this article here. even half of it is true, that is scary! come one people, mix in a water or two. or instead of having 4 diet cokes in a day... maybe make it one.
and that is just the beginning. honestly, go pull out your vitamins (prenatal's, calcium supplements, vitamin C etc) and check out the labels. unless you are awesome, and already heard this stuff, or probably got it from a health food store, there is something WAY better out there for you to be taking. Or just do the more simple thing, and get it from the foods that you eat instead of a supplement.

and last but not least: taking medications.
stop taking ibuprofen or tylenol that takes away the pain temporarily, and get the real problem fixed. i have had headaches since i was 12. and i always took ibuprofen to solve my problem temporarily. i just went to the chiropractor and had three treatments on my neck (which i figured it was the reason behind the headaches, never knew!) and my headaches are GONE. medications dont always solve the problems, they just take the pain away temporarily.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE MY WORD FOR ANY OF THIS.
but you should at least take a look at some of this stuff, and find out for yourself.
i just think its really interesting, and good stuff to know!
informative, or just a really long and annoying post?
